The Dr Pepper/Snapple Group is suing Dublin Dr Pepper for violating the terms of it license agreement. The Dr Pepper group claims that is it unfair for Dublin Dr Pepper to distribute their product outside its 6 county assigned area (due to internet sells) or use different packaging than other Dr Pepper bottlers. Further Dr Pepper Group claims this move is to protect a product’s reputation that all of its bottlers have worked to build.
Personally I find this entire thing absurd and that the powers that be at the Dr Pepper group need a little history lesson. Dublin Dr Pepper deserves special treatment.
What is so special about Dr Pepper from Dublin, Texas? Well, the Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling Company has been bottling the sweet elixir since 1891. It is the original and oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant. They still use Imperial Pure Cane Sugar and not corn syrup. It tastes better than the other stuff. Read More

Dublin Dr Pepper Bottle commemorating the Hamilton High School Lady Bulldogs title as 1998 2A State Basketball Champs
The Dublin Dr Pepper plant is the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant. They have earned the right to use the original recipe, besides they still use the original equipment. Using throwback packaging from different eras is one of the things that makes them special. The old style glass bottles used by the Dublin bottler is one of the items that attracts Dr Pepper enthusiasts. I still have one of the bottles from 1998 in honor of the Hamilton High School (my alma mater) Lady Bulldogs winning the State 2A Basketball champs.
Instead of suing the little plant in Erath County Texas the Dr Pepper Snapple Group should celebrate that the plant which opened 1891 is still go strong.

I have been working on this for a couple of month and have narrowed my list down to three events. All three events share a common theme of tearing down walls and changing the world.
On 9 November 1989, the wall literally fell down that is the Berlin Wall. The fall of the Wall ended the Cold War. It would start a chain of events that saw other communist countries began to fall as well. The constant threat of a Soviet take over or invasion was gone. It would no longer be “us” against “them” to somehow prove our way of life was better. The world would be changed forever.
The commercialization of the Internet in 1995 may not have literally knocked down walls but suddenly almost instant communication with people in other parts of the world was possible. The impact of the internet has permeated every part of our daily lives. I think the most significant changes brought by the internet was the ease of access to information and the way we communicate. I really can’t remember the last time I actually wrote a letter. Of course, I never was much of a letter writer.
The final event September 11, 2001 was the day that changed everything. The attack on the World Trade Towers was the first time we had been attacked by “outsiders” since 1941. The fear of a terrorist attack was unknown to most in the U.S. After all we were supposed to be immune from such things. We were supposed to different from other countries, or at least that is what many of us believed.

Well, it has been a Monday. Nothing big just a Monday. Found a song that is perfect for one of those days.

Just listen, read the lyrics and think about it.
Worth Dying For by Mikeschair
You might be the wife, waiting up at night
You might be the man, struggling to provide
Feeling like it’s hopeless
Maybe you’re the son, who chose a broken road
Maybe you’re the girl, thinking you’ll end up alone
Praying God can you hear me?
Oh God are you listening?
Am I more than flesh and bone?
Am I really something beautiful?
Yeah I wanna believe, I wanna believe that
I’m not just some wandering soul
That you don’t see and you don’t know
Yeah I wanna believe, Jesus help me believe that I
Am someone worth dying for
I know you’ve heard the truth that God has set you free
But you think you’re the one that grace could never reach
So you just keep asking, oh what everybody’s asking
Am I more than flesh and bone?
Am I really something beautiful?
Yeah I wanna believe, I wanna believe that
I’m not just some wandering soul
That you don’t see and you don’t know
Yeah I wanna believe, Jesus help me believe that I
Am someone worth dying for
You’re worth it, you can’t earn it
yeah the cross has proven
That you’re sacred and blameless
Your life has purpose
And you are more than flesh and bone
Can’t you see you’re something beautiful
Yeah you gotta believe, you gotta believe
He wants you to see, He wants you to see
That you’re not just some wandering soul
That can’t be seen and can’t be known
Yeah you gotta believe, you gotta believe that you
Are someone worth dying for
You’re someone worth dying for
You’re someone worth dying for

10: Actually paint a picture with paints. I haven’t painted in several years most of my artwork as been either digital or photography.
#9: Decorate the house. We have been in this house a year and I still have few things on the wall.
#8: Organize the books. When we moved last year the books just got put up in any order and are no longer sorted.
#7: Read 10 books.
#6: Take that beach trip that was cancelled.
#5: Make Christmas gifts this year rather than buying them.
#4: Finish teacher certification for social studies.
#3: Finish organizing the entertainment center.
#2: Clean out the guest room. It looks more like a junk room.
#1: Loose enough weight to get down at least one size in clothes. I would really like to go down two sizes.

My life is certainly different now than the way I imaged the future ten years ago. I never anticipated a cross-country move or the path my career has taken.
I never expected that the Big Guy’s education would move us across the country to Florida. I knew we might move for his education but ten years ago he was looking at schools much closer to home. Also, when we moved to Florida our stay was to be four or five years. It will be eight years next month.
Ten years ago I had returned to teaching computers in a private school after completing my master’s degree. I enjoyed teaching in that setting. After we moved I taught in a private school here for a couple of years but it just wasn’t a good fit. Then I had a job that seemed like my dream job, unfortunately due to the economic down turn I lost that job. Today I work with high school drop-outs in an adult education program. I really enjoy teaching adult education.
Things are certainly different from the way I planned or pictured my life ten years ago. There have been a lot of bumps in the road and some things I would like to change. One thing I have learned that unexpected turns, bumps in life’s path often bring people in my life that are a blessing to me.
