This one has been floating around email, Facebook and YouTube if you haven’t seen it is worth seeing. There are several versions but this one took place at the The Welland Seaway Mall in Welland, Ontario. It was organized Alphabet Photography with help from Robert Cooper and Chorus Niagara.
Found this on YouTube the other day. When I was a kid every Sunday before church I got to watch a kids show that featured several cartoons including Jot.
Friday marked be official opening of the biggest retail season of the year. Stores opened in the wee hours of the morning. Shoppers lined up even earlier to in hopes of getting a great deal on that perfect gift. There are some that get so caught in buying stuff that they even resort to violence. With all of the events and preparations for the holiday it is easy to get caught up in “stuff” of Christmas and forget true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is about the ultimate gift — God’s gift of eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18 NIV
On this first Sunday of Advent take some time to prepare your heart for Christ’s return.
I was a seeker for light in a dark world,
I looked for truth but settled for lies.
I had been blinded, I couldn’t see
Till the Star in Bethlehem’s sky opened my eyes.
I have seen the Light shining in the darkness,
Bursting through the shadows, delivering the dawn.
I have seen the Light whose holy name is Jesus,
His kingdom is forever; He reigns on Heaven’s throne!
There in a manger, an innocent baby;
Who could believe He was the One;
I can believe it, I know it’s true;
He changed my life; He is the light; He is God’s Son!
I have seen the Light shining in the darkness,
Bursting through the shadows, delivering the dawn.
I have seen the Light whose holy name is Jesus,
His kingdom is forever; He reigns on Heaven’s throne!
We must tell the world what we`ve seen today in Bethlehem!
He`s the promised King; we bow down and worship Him!
Worship Christ The King!
I have seen the Light shining in the darkness,
Bursting through the shadows, delivering the dawn.
I have seen the Light whose holy name is Jesus,
His kingdom is forever; He reigns on Heaven’s throne!
A couple of weeks ago I fractured my ankle. I am rather accident prone. Usually I find odd ways to get hurt; like the time I got a black eye on the Rocking Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studio. This time was different. I was just doing boring everyday stuff rolled my ankle and fractured it. See it was the mundane that sidetracked me. The same thing can happen in my spiritual life. It isn’t big things that trip me up but rather daily things. A busy life causes me to forget to pray or skip daily Bible reading time. Before I realize it things have changed. My focus has changed from God to self.
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:3-5 (NIV)
I had intended to post something each week that I’m thankful for however life has caused me to get sidetracked or rather sidelined. Last week I fractured my ankle, same one I fractured years ago only this time it really hurt. For those of you who know me there is really no story this time just tripped and rolled my ankle. The ankle ordeal has given me a new perspective on thankfulness.
I am thankful that I do not need surgery and in only a week I’m up and walking with that funky boot. It was rough being stuck in bed or on the couch for a few days.
I am thankful that The Big Guy is patient and taking care of me. He really has been a big help and has kept me laughing. Last weekend our trip to the immediate care clinic was a source of amusement.
I am thankful for a friend who brought us a meal. Normally, I have no problem putting a decent meal together but this week a PBJ sandwich has been a stress.
I am thankful for a friend from church who helped me out Monday and Tuesday when I was still non-ambulatory. For someone who is usually independent needing help this week has been a humbling experience.
I am thankful for family and friends who prayed for a quick recovery. I didn’t have a miraculous instantaneous healing but things could have been much worse. I think that sometimes it is too easy to focus on the big attention getting miraculous and forget that there might be a lesson in things like a broken ankle.
…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
