I’m back after taking a break for the Christmas Holiday last week. Currently, my husband and I live in Florida but are originally from Texas. I thought it would be fun to show the part of the world where I lived for many years. Today’s post features a quick tour of my Alma Mater, Hardin-Simmons. Hardin-Simmons University is located in Abilene, Texas. So, sit back and enjoy a visit to the 40 Acres.

Yes, the campus is closed until next week. There were a few people on campus though.

Arija: It is was good place for me. This was the first time I had seen the Alumni wall. After graduation students come over to get pictures of their names on the wall.
Babooshka: No it didn’t feel eerie.
Fishing Guy; I think it is an interesting place. HSU proudly embraces its western heritage. As a line for our school song says “Proud daughter of the West…”. Our mascot is the cowboys. We have the Cowboy band, 6 White Horses, rodeo team, Western Heritage Day and our even publications which include the Range Rider, the Brand, and the Reatta (a string of horses) reflect our heritage. One of my college mementos was a piece of old wood that bears the HSU brand.
There’s not much that’s emptier looking than a college campus when school’s out. I drive past NC State U every morning on my way to work, and it’s looked like a ghost town for the last couple of weeks!

A very nice campus. I have been back to my out of town university just a couple of times since I graduated in 1975. I think a lot of things have changed in those years.
