Concert Review: Third Day

November 29, 2008 TheDeeZone 3 comments

Well, it has taken me a while to write this one.  A couple of weeks ago we go to see Third Day in Concert.  Overall, it may have been the best concert I’ve ever seen. It was not only a good rock concert but a worship experience as well.

Revive is a new band from Austrialia.

Revive started the evening off. I really had heard Revive before the concert and was pleasantly surprised. They opened for Third Day in Austrialia.  They had a good blend of showmanship and worship.  The most impressive was the last song which they did totally unplugged.  The drummer used a guitar case for a drum.

Need to Breathe

Need to Breathe was up next and they rocked out. Need to Breathe is a southern rock band from Possum Kingdom, South Carolina.  I had heard them before but really wasn’t a fan until the concert. They had some amazing guitar solos.

Third Day was one of the few bands I’ve seen that is actually better in concert. The experience of seeing them live was just very cool. They can really rock out. However they didn’t do two of our favorites Blackbird and Consuming Fire.

One of the coolest things Third Day did was to leave the stage and do a set from the center of the audience.  I’ve never seen a band do this before. They did a nice mixture of the new and old music.

Sky Watch Friday: Flags

We spent Thanksgiving with a friend in Port Charlotte. While we were there we went to Bocca Grande. I love to explore new places with my camera in hand. I had took these outside the lighthouse and lightkeepers house. The light house has been decommissioned and now houses a museum. Inspired by the white buildings I decide to use the black and white settings on my camera.

flagbwFor this one I was standing under the flag pole leaning backwards to catch the shot. The wind caught be and blew me a little off balance. Fortunately the shot came out on the first try.

Top 10: Reasons to Give Thanks

top10All my family is getting together this year for Thanksgiving, and I have been bummed, because it is not possible for us to go. We are getting to spend time with some long time friends.  Well, I have decided that creating a list of things to be thankful for would help my attitude.

#10: Chocolate, enough said.

#9: That I have a job.

#8: For our wonderful church family.

#7: Went to the beach today and was reminded of the beauty of God’s creation.

#6: Having a nice place to call home. Despite all the recent problems with our condo, it is really is a cool space. We got a great deal on it.

#5: For my family.

#4: For friends that will be there no matter what.

#3: That I had mean parents who insisted on implementing a hands-on parenting style. My parents were the old-fashioned kind that expected me to be respectful, learn to do chores and other wise grow up a to be responsible person.

#2: The Big Guy. Next month we will celebrate our 10th anniversary.  I love you babe. I love just hanging out with you.

#1: God’s gift of salvation, that is available to all who believe. If I had to earn it, I sure wouldn’t have a chance.

ABC Wednesday: S is for Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman Concert

Earlier this month we saw the Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman Concert at the last show of the United Tour in St. Augustine.  Smitty and SCC are probably two of the most accomplished Christian Musicians. Both have won numerous awards and have careers that have lasted decades. I had seen both of them before but never together. You can read more about the concert here.

Smitty is known for being a keyboardist but he can also play the guitar.

Smitty and SCC having fun. They had a set where they played each others hits.

Took this one using the Black & White setting. I just like how it looks.

There is really nothing special about today’s entry just some shots I took on my street. One day I decided to take my camera along on my walk.Oh, the pictures are displayed in no particular order.

At the end of my street are teaching fields used by University of Florida agricultral programs.
