Great Awakening
This week’s Baptist Standard featured an article suggesting that there is another Great Awakening occurring. Over 80,000 conversions occur daily. While only about 6,000 are in Europe and North America. There is spiritual fire sweeping through developing countries while a nation that has traditionally been viewed as a Christian nation is clueless.
If there is a great spiritual movement happening why isn’t it happening in the United States? Jim Denison, president of the Center for Informed Faith, suggests that we are not desperate yet. We have become complacent. We have not reached a point where we are desperate for God to work. True revival is preceded by a concentrated prayer and desperation for God to work.
I recommend reading the article.

Random Thoughts
Just as my tagline suggests today’s post is the result of a wandering ADHD mind.
- If the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second, what is the speed of dark?
- I find it ironic that in stores the smaller sizes are on the top and big the sizes are on the bottom. Saw a petite lady struggling to reach an extra small size while a guy the size of a linebacker was bent over looking for his size.
- Can’t believe that some chic left her car running, door open and purse in front seat of her car at the front of the mall. Wonder if the car was there when she got back.
- Amazed that by cutting out junk food for 5 days I lost 3 pounds this week. Also, drank water most of the time.
- Is amused that a guy called the local police to report that a neighbor had stolen his pot. Yes, that’s right! He reported the theft of marijuana.

Movie Review: Where the Wild Things Are
Last week we saw the Where the Wild Things Are. I was familiar with the book by Maurice Sendak and was looking forward to the movie. My feelings about the movie are mixed.
Spike Jonez gives his unique spin to Where the Wild Things Are. The movie is based on the book but the plot differs greatly. The plot is much darker than the book. It is definitely not for young children (under 7 or 8). I understand that it would be difficult to make a movie out of a such a short book without expanding the plot. However, I did not like the dark and troubling tone of the movie plot.
What impressed me was the cinematography. It was an absolutely beautiful movie. The world created for the Max’s journey into his imagination is amazing. For me the beauty of the movie is a redeeming quality.
I don’t think this is one that will be added to my collection. I would recommend reading or reading the book before seeing the book. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
